Les boîtes de Concarneau

Enfin at Concarneau, eintauchen in the marvellous Musée de la Pêche, in der ville close, in Innern einer Kapelle und einer alten Kaserne, qui servit tour à tour d'école communale. Die Fischer von Concarneau currently catch the most thons in France, and my first visit went directly à la collection des conserves. C’est n’est pas facile de trouve des informations de Provost-Barbe : surprising de trouver that Barbe Broust-Provost, born 1592, married Jean Poisson in 1611 in Mortagne, Normandie . Their son Mathurin Poisson, 1628-1666, died in Cap de la Madeleine, Quebec.  That city had been founded by Jacques de La Ferté, abbé de Sainte-Madeleine de Châteaudun 1651. No info der conserverie, mais bizarre, ilustrating la richesse der Geschichte und die Verbindungen zur Ostküste américain . Très connu est le poster de Provost-Barbe, adapted vom Fischereimuseum :

 Cette affiche stems from 30s, and the artist Lefêvre, cet excellent graphiste, is not very known, but the current Kurator Béchu is trying to find out. If he also designed the can in red/orange/grey selected for the lino?

 L’usine Palmer had been located in der Faubourg at the quai de la crosse, maintenant home du laboratoire de biologie marine. The conserve choisi hat eine bemerkenswerte Fisch-Graphik in rotem Wasser:

 As third can I selected the Palmer langoustines, trouve at  www.capitainedepeche.com/Peche langoustine.htm: La langoustine était peu exploitée avant la guerre, elle est aujourd'hui devenue une espèce à haute valeur marchande, très prisée pour ses qualités gustatives. Again I don’t know the artist.

To construct den Stapel von 3 Büchsen their diameters were adjusted. As never meines wissens the Breton name Konk-Kerne has been used on a can, Concarneau has been exchanged, the altered Konk-erne reflects the nom Konkerne used as well, but also is a construction of konk et “erne”, the English mot for Fischadler, the famly Haliaeetus, rapaces diurnes qui se nourrissent de poisons, but not living in the region. Boîtes have been printed in silver, gold and white avec des rouges different.

Different versions: single plate, black and red plate.

For this version blanc Silber und Gold werden mit pochoir aufgetragen, and the final orange and grey avec Aquarellfarbe.

Following this first printing the Platte will be slightly altered.
