 Surprisingly I missed  a basic Studie of a ferryman, similar to Vincent van Goghs Sämann, une example est Marcel Jacquier le passeur au Passage.  

Un autre Idee war to introduce international passeurs; I wonder if we still had Ruder-bateaus, we would have e.g. african ou asian Fährmänner.  A fascinating variant is Böcklins Toteninsel.
